Gorges, waterfalls, a historic cattle station, kilometres of turquoise water and pindan-red ranges.... what more could you want?! The Gorgeous Gorges tour is unique to Broome Aviation and is a full day adventure. After departing Broome, our first destination is Windjana Gorge. A guided tour of the gorge will reveal the wonderful culture and history, plus the amazing and ever present stares of Windjana’s most revered occupant, the Johnson River Crocodile. |
Re-boarding the aircraft you will traverse the King Leopold Ranges to the remote Silent Grove Airstrip. Upon alighting, there is a 14km drive to Bell Gorge, taking us through the Kimberley outback, spotted with the native Boab Tree. A short, steep walk brings us to the precipice of the Bell Gorge waterfall. The walk during this portion of the tour is not for the infirm, but the refreshing pool that feeds the waterfall is the perfect reward, an ideal spot for a swim and snack in the shade. Another short flight and you will arrive at Mt Hart Station, where lunch is provided and you are free to explore the historic property. Refreshed and re-energised we set course for the remarkable Horizontal Falls, which illustrate that amazing force of massive tidal movements in this region. It is here where hundreds of remote islands that make up the Buccaneer Archipelago materialise amidst the turquoise water. Taking one last stop at Cape Leveque for afternoon tea it is time to make our way back to Broome across the Dampier Peninsula, where you will pass over Lombadina and Beagle Bay Aboriginal Communities and view Willie Creek from above.
